Fleur, I'm curious. Do you have any data about how authors can use Reddit for exposure? I'm doing research on influencers, and I'm wondering if/when Reddit might become a platform for readers and authors to meet.

Hi Joanna. I just heard a podcast that had some interesting info and suggestions for authors about Reddit: https://amarketingexpert.com/2025/06/19/the-power-of-reddit-reach-millions-through-ask-me-anything-events/.

This is so cool. I tend to stay away from subreddit because it’s so toxic. Did you find a lot of toxicity too?

Yes there’s some of that in there but I focused on the comments and questions that gave me insights into what’s really challenging for authors.

I’m going to try this for people trying to write fantasy fiction. Wish me luck.

Fleur, this is amazing. Thanks for sharing the prompt you used to get this information. Marketing, sales, and visibility are clearly the top author pain point, yet so many author and writer conferences seem to underplay these topics in favor of craft. Do you see that also?

Yes I see that too in various fora, Sharon. Marketing is a dirty word to many authors (possibly to their peril).
